What GAPP paperwork can GAPP Check help with?
GAPP Check helps with the paperwork that decides how your child's hours are reviewed. That usually includes:
- Renewal packets and their due dates
- A current doctor's letter that names each skilled task and how often it is needed
- Care logs and nursing notes that show what a normal week looks like
- The caregiver skills checklist, so it shows what you have and have not been trained on
- New records after a hospital stay, surgery, new equipment or new medication
Your nursing agency usually submits the packet. We work with you and the agency so what goes in is complete and agrees with itself.
Why does GAPP paperwork change how many hours a child gets?
GAPP hours are set from what is in the file. A reviewer reads the records and scores your child's conditions, equipment and treatments. If a skilled task happens every day but never appears in the records, it cannot be counted.
That is why the same child can get very different hours depending on how complete the paperwork is.
What makes a strong GAPP file?
A strong GAPP file has records that agree with each other:
- A doctor's letter from the last few months that lists each skilled task and how often it happens
- Hospital, ER and equipment records from the last 12 months
- Nursing notes that match what the doctor describes
- An accurate training record for every caregiver
Clear, complete records matter more than long letters.
What happens when you work with GAPP Check on paperwork?
- You send a photo of your latest letter or packet. No forms to fill out first.
- We list what is missing or out of date and explain it in plain words.
- We gather and draft with you, your child's doctor and your agency. You review and sign.
- We track the next due date so the next renewal does not sneak up on you.
Do GAPP records still go in while we appeal?
Yes. Renewal packets still go in on time while an appeal is pending, and the GAPP manual says at least every three months while a case is in appeals. If your child is hospitalized or gets worse, your agency tells the reviewer through the portal's contact option instead of sending a change request. GAPP Check keeps track of these dates for you.
When is GAPP Check not the right fit for paperwork?
We are not a law firm and we are not part of the state. If you want a lawyer to represent you at a hearing, contact a legal aid group. Georgia has free legal help for families: Georgia Legal Services Program, Georgia Appleseed and the Georgia Advocacy Office.
Questions families ask
Do I have to fill out the GAPP forms myself?
No. You send a photo of your letter or packet, we gather and draft what is needed with your doctor and agency, and you review and sign.
Is GAPP paperwork help free?
Yes. GAPP Check is free for families. No nursing agency pays us or funds GAPP Check, and families never pay.
Will you replace my nursing agency?
No. Your agency keeps submitting what it normally submits. We make sure what goes in is complete and on time.
What if my doctor's letter is old?
Ask for a new one. A current letter that names each skilled task and how often it happens is one of the most important pieces of the file. We can give your doctor a simple list of what to include.
