How GAPP Check works: who helps, what it costs, and how we protect your family

GAPP Check is free for Georgia families and is not paid by any nursing agency. Here are straight answers to the six questions careful families ask us before they start.

Who will be helping our family, and what experience do they have with GAPP?

You work directly with our founder, who has worked on the agency side of Georgia's GAPP program: renewal packets, nurse staffing, reviews, and the paperwork that decides a child's hours. We know how GAPP files are read because we have prepared them.

Do you help with nursing hour reductions, denials, reconsiderations and fair hearing preparation?

Yes, all four. We read your decision letter, check the deadline, gather the records, and write the reconsideration request with you. If the answer is still no, we help you prepare for the fair hearing.

We are not lawyers and do not represent families at hearings. If you want a lawyer, contact a legal aid group. Georgia has free legal help for families: Georgia Legal Services Program, Georgia Appleseed and the Georgia Advocacy Office.

We also help with paperwork and renewals, choosing or switching agencies, and nursing shifts that go unfilled.

Is GAPP Check free? How is it paid for?

Yes, it is completely free for families. GAPP Check is funded independently. No nursing agency pays us, no agency funds us, and we are never paid for sending a family to an agency.

Are you affiliated with or financially connected to any GAPP nursing agencies?

No. No GAPP nursing agency owns, pays, or funds GAPP Check. Our founder's experience comes from the agency side of GAPP, and we are upfront about that. What it means for you:

  • You never have to switch agencies to get our help.
  • Your child's hours belong to your child, not to any agency.
  • We work with your current agency.
  • If you ask about choosing an agency, we give you the same questions to ask every agency, and the choice is yours.

How do you protect the medical records and personal information we share?

  • The website form never asks for medical records, diagnoses, or Medicaid numbers.
  • Your request goes to a private inbox, not a public system.
  • When you are ready to share documents, we send you a private, secure upload link. Please do not email records.
  • We ask your written permission before requesting records from a doctor or agency.
  • We never sell or share your information for advertising.

What happens after we complete the initial check?

  1. We contact you at the time you chose, by phone or text.
  2. You send a photo of your letter through the secure link.
  3. We check the deadline and the stated reason, and tell you plainly whether an appeal looks worth it.
  4. We list what is missing and draft the request with you, your doctor, and your agency.
  5. You review and sign. We track every date after that.

Questions families ask

Do I have to sign anything to get started?

No. The first check and the first read of your letter are free and need no signature. You sign only the request itself, after you have reviewed it.

Can I stop working with GAPP Check at any time?

Yes. You can stop at any time, and you can ask us to delete the information you sent us.

Do you speak with my nursing agency?

Only if you say it is okay. The form asks first, and you can change your mind later.
